The leaves were always there
On the dry ground, natures abstract paintings
Brushstrokes of God on the Square
I remember as a kid
I used to run thru them many times
The rustle would make me laugh,
Something I needed to do more of.
And again in college,
Walking through the grounds
They were there, beckoning, pleading
Come and play! And I did,
They were there again today
Wet slick, dangerous
They tease me,
You are old, they say,
Come and play at your risk
